Greyscale Solarpunk is a collection of photographs curated following an artist residency program at Beelarong Community Farm, from July to September 2025. While some images were taking during this period, many were taken prior, as part of a broader documentary project that commenced in 2024.
In our current epoch, we are increasingly faced with dystopian impressions of our future, and rightly so. The artistic and social Solarpunk movement presents an alternative position, though a little greenwashed in my opinion. In response to this, I offer a greyscale perspective, of ephemeral moments unfolding, agroecological care, and the steady radical act of community. While considering human action impacting macro food systems from policy to narrative, this series is a chaotic visual representation of life within this small place of growth. In black and white we are reminded of the reality of impermanence in soil ecology, life sustaining food, and also ourselves.
All images developed and scanned by hand, with some forming part of an ongoing experiment using homemade botanical based developers and caffenol.
